Hi! 👋 If you want to jump to just see what I've been up to, check out my work. But to sum up my background briefly, I got a math degree and worked in tutoring for a while in and around Colorado State University. Then, 5 years ago, I moved into the tech world via a QA role at an aviation software startup. I've been a key member of the team in getting it off the ground from a startup to now a profitable small company, transitioning within a couple years to a frontend development and designer role. Through it all I've learned a lot about business, product, and engineering, and have greatly enjoyed seeing the impact firsthand of new features I've helped design and build. It's been a great experience with a great team, and I consider myself lucky to have had the opportunity to learn and grow professionally while also innovating and improving the aviation world!

I made an indie electronic EP called Remnants back in February of 2020, inspired by my travels to the Channel Islands and the cloudy cliffs there. The album is in the style of indie electronica, and is meant to evoke a cinematic and nostalgic vibe. I used Ableton Live as my tool of choice for music production on this project.

In the summer of 2016 after I graduated from college, I booked a one way flight to Montreal and sought work exchange opportunities in the area (using the website helpx). Over the course of the next 4 months I lived and worked at 5 different homesteads and farms, learning the pace of a more rural lifestyle, helping with chores around the house, cutting down trees and chopping them into firewood, and exploring different parts of Canada. I grew a lot through this experience, and it broadened my perspective considerably in terms of understanding what kinds of alternative lifestyles are possible.
My favorite place was the Bruce Peninsula, a beautiful, wild and remote strip of land between Lake Huron and Georgian Bay, where I stayed with a lovely family who had built their own home, workshop, and dance studio.
In the summer of 2015, I lived and camped every week in the woods. I was part of a conservation corps, a sawyer crew of 8 young adults, tasked with thinning out the overgrown forest around the Boy Scout Camp in the Red Feather Lakes region of Northern Colorado. We were all trained in proper chainsaw use with the S212 Wildland Chainsaw Class A certification.
This experience allowed me to grow considerably in understanding my role within a team, how I contribute as a positive team player, and generally just being more self-aware of how I communicate with others in a professional environment.
